The Chainsmokers are a DJ and production team who produce a unique blend of dance music, hip hop and indie pop music. They have produced many singles that have reached the top of major music charts and they have won the Grammy for the Best Dance Recording and several other major American music awards.
The Chainsmokers consist of two members, Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. When the production team was formed in 2012, the team consisted of a former DJ, Rhett Bixler and Alex Pall. Soon Andrew Taggart replaced Bixler as a member of the team. At first the team made remixes of Indie bands. Between the years 2013 and 2016, the duo released several singles that reached the top of music charts in the US and the UK.
Alex Pall is the DJ of the Chainsmokers. He was born and raised in New York City. Andrew Taggart is the writer, singer and producer of the singles of the Chainsmokers. He was raised at Freeport in Maine. His love for electronic dance music began at the age of 15 when he travelled to Argentina.
The single ‘Selfie’ by the Chainsmokers was released in 2013. The song reached the top of the dance /electronics chart and was their breakthrough single. In 2015, they released the single ‘Roses’. The first Album of the Chainsmokers was called Memories….. Do Not Open. The album has stayed for over a year at the top of the Billboard’s top dance/ electronic albums chart. The album has been popular with listeners at the Top 40 Radio.
While the Chainsmokers have faced competition in the general music category of music charts, they continue to rule the dance/electronic music category of major music charts.
Austin, Texas has long been known as the land of the weird, wild, and wonderful. A cultural oasis in the heart of central Texas for music, food, and art. The city has given rise to many musicians and artists who have changed the landscape of not just Texas, but of the country, and in some cases the world with their creative works. Recently, one of the most prominent of those creative folks is visual artist Ann Scango, known for her highly complex and textually engaging works, she is a proud member of the “Austin Weird Army” and is not only out to create a new way of presenting art, but also a new way for those who experience art to understand it.
While she admits that it took a long time to get herself financially profitable form her work, it was alright. Ann Scango didn’t exactly relish the times that she was the true embodiment of the term starving artist, but now that she has achieved the level of success that she has gained she sees the struggle was worth it. Ann Scango claims that every piece that she works on reminds of her of her early days as a child when she would spend half her time in her mother’s garden, playing in the dirt and enjoying those warm Texas mornings in the sun, and then would rush inside to spend the rest of the day sketching and drawing with her mothers art supplies. She credits her mother with being the driving force behind her choice to pursue a creative career.
Ann is the founder and sole proprietor of the Scango Collection, a gallery in Austin which features not only her own work, but works that are in the similar vein as her chosen realm. Ann Scango is excited to help new artists find their path, and also to help established artists to introduce themselves to a new audience. For those artists that are looking at finding their own path to success, be that in the form of money or just in the satisfaction of knowing that they have created something new, interesting and unique, she has this advice. “Make mistakes, don’t be afraid of them, in fact, make them on purpose every chance you get, they are the way that you learn, the way that you grow, and the way that you become the best you can be.”
Alex Pall is a young man who grew up in the New York music scene filling his way through life. He started on the path of a local DJ but had a passion for more and was wise enough to pursue it. After he connected with Andrew Taggart in 2012, The Chainsmokers was reformed as artists of dance music but they quickly realized that they don’t want to stay in one genre. Their love of music combined will have blended sounds of hip hop, indie, electric, pop and more for their fans and viewing audience. With their unique spin on the music industry, Alex and Andrew have been topping the music charts for a long time!
Alex Pall was raised by his mother who was a housewife and father who is an art dealer in Westchester County, New York. It is no surprise for him to be found in the art galleries from time to time, even when he first met Andrew Taggart. The group was originated with Alex and DJ Rhett Bixler, before his manager introduce him to Andrew. Adam Alpert, his manager and the band’s current manager, introduced them at an art gallery and the duo have been together as The Chainsmokers.
Alex has already made a name for himself in the romance world with a cheating scandal that recently came about this year. His current girlfriend at the time, Tori Woodard, was probably one of the few women to live out one of their songs which wasn’t taken seriously by Alex! “Don’t Let Me Down” was it exactly what Alex did to Tori by allegedly cheating on her. She actually released footage to prove his cheating capabilities and wanted to make sure she warned other women to be aware and observant. This came about in January but in March he was seen with a new girlfriend, Katelyn Byrd. I’m not sure if he moves fast or if he learned his lesson or not but as many people say “Life Goes On! “
This dynamic duo has put out so many hits that we know that their career is going to last a very long time. Millennials as well as middle age music lovers have all tuned in and paid attention to the path that The Chainsmokers are on in this industry. I look forward to more of what they have to offer us in the near future.
