Sheldon Lavin Makes His Vision For The OSI Group A Reality

The president of the food service company the OSI Group is Sheldon Lavin. He first became involved with the company almost 50 years ago. At that time Lavin, who had enjoyed a successful career as a banker, was running his own financial services company. Sheldon Lavin has an educational background in finance and accounting and his company was hired to find the OSI Group money to expand. The bank encouraged Lavin to become part owner of the company to secure the loan. Instead, Sheldon Lavin began investing in the company and the owners promised to notify him if the company was for sales.

In the 1980s, Sheldon Lavin eventually bought the company and put a plan in place to take the OSI Group global. Lavin felt the company, which had a reputation for offering the highest quality meat products, had the potential to do well in the international food industry. Lavin created a series of food processing, worker safety and environmental sustainability processes that won the company numerous awards. Under the leadership of Sheldon Lavin, the OSI Group quickly became a popular source of food products for companies all over the world. Lavin established the OSI Group as a ompany that can be depended on to create culturally sensitive food products.

China is one of the countries in which the OSI has long had a growing number of customers. Lavin built the company’s first processing facility in China 20 years ago. Today the OSI Group has 10 poultry processing facilities in the country. The Sheldon Lavin led company also provides meat, fish, dough and vegetable products for Pizza Hut, Papa John’s Pizza, McDonald’s, Subway, Starbucks and other American fast food companies doing business in China. Lavin has also led the company to build more than 70 food processing companies in almost two dozen countries.

With the global success of the OSI Group, Sheldon Lavin’s vision for the company had become a reality. Vision World Academy gave Lavin their 2016 Global Visionary Award for demonstrating perseverance in attaining his goals. Even with all the success Sheldon Lavin has enjoyed in the food processing industry, he still makes time to serve as Rush University Medical Center general trustee and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation director. Lavin, who’s also involved in a wide range charitable organizations, is beloved by the OSI Group employees. He has maintained a family atmosphere in the company.
